Everyone's behaviour contributes to an injury-free workplace. Our goal is zero harm.
Full and consistent implementation of, and accountability for, our safety standards and procedures is required wherever we work — in the office, at home, and on the road. Our duties under the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 are the floor for how we meet this commitment, not the ceiling.
We are building a supportive safety culture that requires visible leadership, ongoing education and training, and a high level of participation by everyone in the workplace. Anyone may stop work they believe is unsafe, and raising a safety concern is always the right call — never a career risk.
We place an uncompromising emphasis on hazard identification, risk assessment and risk management, carried out under our Risk Policy and Standard. For our work that means, concretely:
- Screen-based work — workstation setup and the physical load of long desk hours, wherever the desk is.
- Driving and manual handling — the errands of a physical-goods business: vehicles maintained and driven unimpaired, parcels lifted sensibly.
- Events and filming — cables, lighting and equipment at livestreams and shoots treated as the temporary workplaces they are.
Fitness for work. We come to work unimpaired — by alcohol, by drugs (including prescription medicines that impair), or by fatigue. Hours are managed so that a marketplace that never closes is not run by people who never stop; anyone whose physical, mental or emotional state may affect their ability to work safely is expected to say so, and will be supported, not penalised, for doing it.
Safety, health and the environment are managed together: this policy stands alongside our Occupational Health Policy and Environment Policy, under the same risk framework. We measure our performance through regular review and reporting, and the board reviews this policy and our performance against it at least annually.
